Biorhythms and terminology

The four cycles of the Biorhythms theory are known as the intellectual cycle (33 days), the physical cycle (23 days}, the Biomatch Mood cycle (21 days) and the Biomatch Reflexive cycle (28 days).

A rhythm or a cycle is something that's periodically repeated in a predictable and (often) measurable way.

A cycle may be exogenous (influenced or reset by external changes such as day/night, hot/cold) or endogenous (not influenced by external changes - free running).

Exogenous and endogenous cycles may be Ultradian (lasting fractions of a day), Circadian (lasting a day) or Infradian (lasting several days).

So, the three cycles of the original Biorhythms theory and the four cycles of the Biomatch Biorhythms theory are endogenous (free running - not influenced by external changes) infradian (lasting several days) rhythms.

Some of the scientific names used for human endogenous infradian rhythms are:

Circatrigintan rhythms - cycles that recur every 25-35 days.

Circavigintan rhythms - cycles that recur every 17-23 days.

Circadiseptan rhythms - cyles that recur every 12-17 days.
